AQUARIUM LAYOUT PLANNER
Tank volume & substrate
Gross litres = length × depth × height ÷ 1,000 for measurements in centimetres. Substrate litres = length × depth × (front depth + back depth) ÷ 2,000. This assumes a linear slope across the whole tank footprint.
How it works
Estimated water litres = length × depth × water level ÷ 1,000 − substrate litres. Water level is measured from the tank bottom. A US gallon equals 3.785411784 litres. Decoration displacement, glass thickness, equipment and air pockets are not modelled. Substrate volume is a geometric estimate, not a purchasing weight.
